The NGL Pathway

A clear pathway from Grass Roots to Masters

  • The National Gymnastics League began with a single, focused idea: to create a meaningful league competition for gymnasts training between two and ten hours per week — a group that makes up a significant percentage of the gymnastics community, yet has historically had limited access to consistent, national-level competition.

That original League model remains the heart of the NGL. Built around regional competitions, consistent judging, and national league tables. It is designed to make competitions more accessible through location and remote judging, more consistent through a single software platform and higher quaified judges, more quantifiable with the ability to track progress over time through better use of data, and more inclusive by broadening the measures of success through Personal Bests not just medals. Just as importantly, it ensures that gymnasts can compete Nationally while scoring locally.

As the League is launched it is clear that the same principles could — and should — support a much wider range of gymnasts. We have already announced that we will be holding an Adult competition in June as well as a Club competition for those training less than 2hrs/wk. But there have been many discussions within the team about the true potential of the NGL.

For the first time, the NGL team want to share this vision: a connected national framework made up of aligned pathways, each designed around how gymnasts actually train and what they want from competition.

Alongside the League, the Club pathway opens the door to structured competition for gymnasts training fewer hours, offering the same professional standards without pressure to be ranked.

The Cup pathway introduces a national, non-regional format for highly committed gymnasts, where qualification to National Finals is based purely on score rather than geography. Masters ensures that adult gymnasts have a clear, respected place within the same national system, supporting lifelong participation in the sport.

All pathways share consistent judging, national data collection, and a commitment to high-quality competition experiences, ensuring that performances are meaningful and comparable across the country.

The National Gymnastics League is evolving from a single competition idea into a sustainable national framework — one that supports clubs, values every gymnast, and reflects the diversity, commitment, and ambition of the modern gymnastics community.

  • Coming Soon

  • Ages 6–17 | Under 2 hours training per week

NGL Club is designed for gymnasts training under two hours per week who want to experience a professional, exciting competition environment while representing their club. Participation in league tables is optional, allowing gymnasts and clubs to choose whether they wish to be ranked nationally. NGL Club focuses on enjoyment, confidence, and celebrating commitment, ensuring every gymnast has the opportunity to compete in a safe, welcoming, and well-structured setting.

  • Ages 6–17 | 2–10 hours training per week

NGL League is the core of the National Gymnastics League, created for gymnasts training between two and ten hours per week. It offers a structured league system with regional competitions, national league tables, and the opportunity to qualify for National Finals.

Gymnasts compete as individuals while proudly representing their home club and region. An equal number of qualifiers from each Region ensures fairness. There is consistent judging and meaningful data used to track progress and support long-term development.

  • Ages 6+ | 11+ hours training per week

The NGL Cup is a national, non-regional competition format for highly committed gymnasts training eleven hours or more per week. Gymnasts compete as individuals representing their club, with scores ranked nationally rather than by region (as they are in the League pathway).

The highest scores across the country qualify directly to National Finals (rather than by Region as in the League), ensuring the strongest performances are recognised regardless of location.

  • Ages 18+ | Any training hours

NGL Masters is open to adult gymnasts aged 18 and over, regardless of training hours or background. Whether returning to the sport or training consistently, Masters gymnasts benefit from professionally run competitions, consistent judging, and a supportive national framework that values longevity, enjoyment, and personal achievement within gymnastics.

Remote competitor option means that adults can record their routines without having to attend in person.
